RefCrew Certification Exam
Demonstrate your knowledge and take the next step in your RefCrew development. The RefCrew Certification Exam is designed to assess your understanding of the rules, mechanics, positioning, communication, decision-making, game management, and other core concepts covered throughout your RefCrew training.
What Is the RefCrew Certification Exam?
The RefCrew Certification Exam is designed to verify that you understand the foundational knowledge necessary to officiate effectively. Rather than simply testing your ability to memorize rules, the exam evaluates your understanding of officiating concepts and your ability to apply that knowledge to realistic game situations.
We strongly recommend completing the full RefCrew training course before taking the exam. The Certification Exam is intended to verify your knowledge and understanding, while your practical on-court performance is evaluated separately through a live game evaluation.

The goal is to demonstrate that you understand how officiating concepts work in practice and not simply to recall isolated information.

Passing the exam does NOT automatically make you RefCrew Certified. To advance to the RefCrew Certified tier, you must also successfully complete a practical game evaluation conducted by a Certified RefCrew Evaluator.
The practical evaluation verifies your ability to apply your knowledge in an actual game environment, including rules application, mechanics, positioning, judgment, communication, decision-making, game management, and professionalism.
The RefCrew
Certification Philosophy
RefCrew believes that knowing how to officiate and being able to officiate are two different things. The Certification Exam verifies your knowledge. The practical game evaluation verifies your ability to apply that knowledge in a real-game environment.
